Osun: Maintain Peace On Outcome Of Tribunal Judgement- Prince Awofisayo Urges Residents
Prince Felix Adeyemi Awofisayo

As the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal set Friday, 26th January as date for its ruling on a petition filed by the former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress, APC against the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC of Senator Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the July 16, 2022 gubernatorial election, a chieftain of APC in the state and member of the Elders’ Caucus of the party, Prince Felix Adeyemi Awofisayo has charged all residents of the state to maintain peace whichever way the tribunal ruling goes.

The Ile-Ife-born Prince stated this in a statement he personally issued and signed and later made available to the media in Osogbo, the state capital.

According to the APC leader, the proposed Friday ruling by Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is not the end of the judicial process, as whoever loses can still approach the appellate court for possible redress.

“The proposed Friday ruling by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is never the terminal point in the judicial process, as whoever loses can still approach the Court of Appeal for possible redress, therefore no need to embark violence capable of leading to loss of lives in the state” he stressed.

He therefore charged all the state residents, especially political leaders to call on their supporters to refrain from actions that are capable of causing mayhem in the state.

The APC leader further admonished all eligible voters in the state to remain steadfast as the general elections approach, as it’s their statutory duty to cast their votes and elect leaders that will best serve their interests in a peaceful atmosphere.

He further enjoined religious leaders across all faiths to continue educating their followers on the importance of peace to the general well-being of the country.

Prince Awofisayo called on officers and men of all security agencies in the state to stay alive to their primary responsibilities of securing lives and property during and after the tribunal ruling.
