Historic defeat for Manchester United. The Reds devils conceded 4 goals in the first 35 minutes against Brentford. The Bees thrashed the visitors with goals from Mee, Jensen, Dasilva and Mbeumo. Second consecutive Premier League defeat for Manchester United at the start of the season.
Second consecutive defeat for Manchester United at the start of the season. Ten Hag’s project is off to a disastrous start. First, United lost their Premier League opener against Brighton at Old Trafford and then they suffered a crushing 4-0 defeat against Brentford.
It is the fastest Manchester United have ever conceded four goals in their history. Brentford were crushing the Red Devils by the 35th minute with goals from Mee, Jensen, Dasilva and Mbeumo. Ten Hag put Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting eleven but it was not enough for an embarrassing performance.
In the second half McTominay, Malacia and Varane came on and improved United’s performance but it was not enough to score a goal.
De Gea had a big miss in the 10th minute that gave Brentford an early lead. Dasilva received the ball on the edge of the box and shot at the near post. The Spanish goalkeeper tried to stop the ball but it slipped off him and went into the net.
A few minutes later, United tried to get the ball out of their half in disastrous way and after a poor pass from De Gea to Eriksen, Jensen stole the ball from him and beat the Spaniard shot across the goal. Soon after, after a horrible defensive display from United, Toney headed the ball to the far post and Mee, who was at the far post, pushed the ball into the net.
Manchester United, in shock, conceded a fourth goal just five minutes later through a great Brentford counter attack. Jensen stole the ball in his own half, found Toney in space with a long pass. The striker ran down the left flank and squared the ball to Mbeumo, who, once inside the box, beat De Gea to make it four for his side.
In the second half, Varane, McTominay and Malacia came on. The Red Devils played better but it was not enough to put behind them one of the most embarrassing defeats in their history.
