Tyson Fury has said he will come out of retirement to face Anthony Joshua for free if he beat Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch.

Blaze Newz gathered that 33-year-old Fury 32-0-1 (23) announced he was hanging up the gloves following his sixth-round knockout of Dillian Whyte in April.

Few believed him then and few believe him now. It is worth noting that he is yet to relinquish his WBC heavyweight crown.

Meanwhile Joshua 24-2 (22) will get the chance to avenge his loss to Ukrainian southpaw Oleksandr Usyk 19-0 (13) when they clash in an immediate rematch in Saudi Arabia on August 20. Their first bout last September cost Joshua his WBA, WBO and IBF championships.

Fury and Joshua, 32, have long been linked to an all-British super fight but a variety of circumstances have conspired to prevent the two big men from meeting in the ring.

On the latest leg of his countrywide tour, Fury took aim at Joshua and questioned his motivations for boxing.

“It’s all about money, Mr Businessman; he’s not a fighting man,” Fury said. “I swear to God I hope he wins the fight against Usyk so that I can come out of retirement and fight him for free.

“However, the terms are these: I want it at Wembley Stadium, I want it free to enter and I want it on free-to-air in television in this country.

“I’ll fight him in England, not abroad in a foreign country for more money; here for free for the people.”

One person who wants to see Fury back in the ring is his co-promoter Frank Warren.

“When I was young, that’s what turned me on to boxing – watching Muhammad Ali. He was unbelievable,” Warren told the Telegraph.

“An unbelievable athlete, an unbelievable sportsman, all the things that you’d never seen in sport before: loud, brash, and more importantly he could fight.

“Everything was unbelievable and I was lucky enough to meet him when he came over to the UK when I was a kid, through my uncle. I met him a couple of times. And Tyson Fury is the closest thing we have had to Ali in the heavyweight division.

“Tyson’s a fighting man. And I feel in his heart he will fight again.”

Fury’s offer to fight for free is a far cry from the position he took last month when he said the only thing that would get him back in the prize ring was half a billion dollars.

“I’d probably want half a billi to come out of retirement,” he said. “I’m telling you the truth, if you want me out of retirement it’s gonna cost half a billi.”

Fury won the WBC title with a surprise seventh-round knockout of Deontay Wilder 42-2-1 (41) in February 2020. He defended the belt twice, including an 11th round knockout of Wilder in their rematch last October.
