The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said all court cases involving an election exercise of any state can no longer be heard in another state.

This was disclosed by the commission’s voter education commissioner, Festus Okoye on Saturday during INEC Capacity Building For Journalists in Osun State in preparation for the state’s July 16 gubernatorial election.

Addressing journalists of the state who represented various media organizations, Okoye said the new Electoral Act 2022 has now barred political parties and candidates from filing election litigations after the exercise has been concluded in another states of the federation.

Okoye noted that after the Electoral Act 2022 has been assented to by President Muhammadu Buhari as part of reform of the commission any candidate who files election litigation in another state will be referred back to his/her state.
