OSCOTECH Alumni 9th Annual Convention : Ex-Students Donate 4.2 KVA Generator To Alma Mater, Inaugurates North America Chapter



As part of efforts to ensure that Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke continues to deliver quality education and meetup with her mandates, alumni association of the institution donated 4.2 KVA generator set to the school.

This was revealed at the 9th Annual Convention of the alumni which took place over the weekend in the Alumi Auditorium in the College premises, Esa-Oke.

In a letter dated 19th of November, 2021 signed by the Alumni General Secretary, Oyebisi Lukman said “the donation of the generation is to ease and avert delay in collection of transcript, certificate and other academic credentials from concerned units such as Academic Affairs Unit which is part of Bursary Unit as well as Directorate of Students Affairs.

“Consequent upon the above, as a strategic partner in moving the school forward, the National Executive Council met and decided to support the school management in providing quick and seemless services to the students and teeming population of past students that apply for one thing or the other.

“We hereby approved the purchase of 4.2 KVA generating to be use specifically by the above mentioned units, ” the letter reads in part.

In his own address, the OSCOTECH Alumni National President, Prince Olaniyan Adenle said, “like all tertiary Alumni associations we are graduands of the Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH), Esa Oke, Osun State. We are recognized by the College and being guided by a constitution.

“On our contributions to the Alma mater, this edifice belongs to us. We contributed among ourselves and built it for the use of everybody; the College, and the students.

“Also we gave out scholarships to best our graduate students in all of the five faculties we have here.

“These are little of our major contributions. And very soon we will bring more of our projects to the limelight.

“Apart from this building, we have just donated a set of power generator to the school. Specifically a unit that lacks power supply to process students’ results.”

He added that the school has been very friendly and supportive ,cited the instance of giving the association a parcel of land on which the Auditorium is built.

“Anytime we come they welcome us. They are our friends. Anytime we come they welcome us. They know we are the owners of the school because we graduated from here. They are cooperating with us in everything we are doing” he said.

On the new Chapter, the National president of the alumni said “We have existing six chapters, the seventh we just inaugurated is North America Chapter. It’s our first chapter in diaspora. It is meant for our members in America and Canada.”

However, the OSCOTECH Alumni National President pointed to the lack of fund as greatest challenge bedeviling the association.

Different speakers who spoke at the convention lauded the Alumni for giving back to the school that produced them.

Speaking with the press, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeyemi Adediran, Owa Omiran of Esa Oke commended the alumni association’s developmental strives.

“We thank God for the event taking place. I am happy with what the Alumni Association has been doing and able to achieved. This edifice (Alumni Auditorium) evidently costs fortune, and I’m happy I was the one who laid the foundation.

“May God continue to guide them through and give them success in their endeavours,” he said.

“We pray for growth in number, and no rancour. May peaceful coexistence take place in their midst.”

Rector of the institution Dr. Samson Akinbamide Omobayo Adegoke, represented by the deputy Rector Mr. L. Adeyeri in his goodwill message lauded the ex-students association’s contribution to development of the infrastructural and physical development of the school, even as he drew attention of the people  to the Auditorium which is at the last stage of completion

He , however, stressed that the institution will continue to uphold the virtues for which the institution is known.

He charged the Alumni to be ready to be more involved in the activities of the institution.

Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. B.S Agbolade who received the generator set on behalf of the College appreciated the alumni for the donation.

Agbolade promised that the generator will be used for its intended purposes.

“The College is seeing what it abides by and identifies. We see the love and passion to give back to the Alma mater on the past of the ex-students.

“Our expectation for them is that they do much more than this. We expect that God grow them more than this so they can have the capability to help the College with responsibilities,” the Dean said.

The guest speaker , Dr. Seyi Babayinka who spoke on the Convention Theme “Nexus Between Wealth Creation and Leadership Dexterity: Post Pandemic Era” traced the most important pandemic eras in human existence from the inception of time, added COVID-19 to the list.

Dr. Babayinka said in these aforementioned times, humans have been saved by innovations, adaptation and creativity. He is quoted to have said these times also open humanity to invention in sciences and technologies.

The convention also witnessed the inauguration of OSCOTECH North America Chapter which is meant for America and Canada members.

The newly inaugurated Chapter, which is the first in diaspora, is the seventh chapter of the association following Ibadan, Home/OSCOTECH, Osogbo, Ekiti, Lagos and Abuja Chapters.

The Coordinator of the North America Chapter, Mr. Abiodun Durosinmi profoundly thanked the National body for the inauguration.

“We accept the approval and promise to abide by the rules and regulations of the alumni association”, Durosinmi said via Zoom.
