Kwara APC: Crisis Continues As Parallel Congresses Set To Hold Tomorrow

Published

on

There are strong indications that parallel congresses will be held by the two major warring factions of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kwara State on Saturday.

Blaze Newz gathered that on Thursday afternoon when the embattled Information Minister, Lai Mohammed and Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa’s faction informed newsmen that its members had collected nomination forms from the party’s secretariat in readiness for the Saturday congresses.

However, findings by our correspondent in Ilorin on Thursday night revealed that there will certainly be parallel congresses across the 193 wards in the State.

A chieftain of the party in the state loyal to Lai Mohammed, Barrister Iyiola Oyedepo confirmed to journalists in Ilorin that, ” Yes, we will have parallel congresses across the State on Saturday.

“We have collected nomination forms for our members and we will hold our own separate congresses in the 193 wards across the state,” he stated emphatically.

“We are going on with our own exercise, everybody will go to his ward, since we are not meeting and we have not been together, I don’t know where the other faction will hold its own.”

Reacting, the state caretaker committe chairman of the party, loyal to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Abdullahi Samari, said ” I am not aware of any planned parallel congresses by another faction for the Saturday congresses.”

He told DAILY POST that, ” As far as we are concerned, there is no contrary news or plan for the Saturday exercise
We are going ahead with the congresses as scheduled.”

Informed sources revealed that the outcome of the exercise in Kwara State may eventually be cancelled by the national leadership of the party.
